Media group Emap is expecting a 2% revenue decline in the first half of its financial year, the company said today.

Emap, the owner of the Magic and Kiss radio stations and magazines including Heat and Closer, said total revenues would be up 6% over the period.

But on an underlying basis, excluding the effect of acquisitions and launches, there would be a 2% decline.

The UK consumer magazine division is set to record a 1% decline, with the good performance from women's weekly titles and increases in cover prices offset by the weaker men's and automotive titles.

International magazine revenues are expected to be down 18% following difficulties at the US edition of FHM.

Grrr! 'Snakes on a Plane' Should Live Up to Hype

Brian Finkelstein might have just become the most popular man in Hollywood.

The 26-year-old is the marketing genius behind 'Snakes on a Plane.' But unlike most Tinseltown pitchmen, Finkelstein doesn't have a multimillion-dollar marketing budget or spend his days poring over focus group reports.

Heck, he doesn't even work for the company that is distributing the horror-thriller flick, which opens nationwide this weekend. And he won't make a dime from its profits.

Get the low-down on Tinseltown in the Movies Center

But Finkelstein may be the mastermind of what could be the biggest box office coup of the summer — one that might change the way movies are marketed forever.

Snakes. Planes. Awesome.

If you haven't heard about 'Snakes on a Plane' — and if you haven't, you must just be waking from a coma — there are really only three things you need"

Sneak: the teen mag earned itself the nickname 'baby Heat'

Emap has suspended the publication of Sneak magazine after four years because teenagers are turning to the internet and mobile phones to get their fix of celebrity gossip.

Sneak hit the newsstands in April 2002 with its bid to tap into the teenage obsession with celebrities, earning it the nickname 'baby Heat'.

But according to a memo sent to staff by the Emap Elan managing director, Dawn Bebe, the title has been suspended with immediate effect due to the 'challenging' nature of the teen sector."

Madonna has defended her use of crucifixion imagery
Religious leaders in Rome have united against the mock-crucifixion featured in US pop star Madonna's latest show.

In the sequence, Madonna appears on a giant cross wearing a crown of thorns.

Father Manfredo Leone of Rome's Santa Maria Liberatrice church told Reuters news agency it was 'disrespectful, in bad taste and provocative'.

Muslim and Jewish leaders have also raised objections. Madonna performs in Rome on 6 August ahead of six further dates at London's Wembley Arena.

The 47-year-old received similar complaints during the American leg of her Confessions world tour, with one critic accusing her of 'blatant insensitivity'.

The singer has defended the imagery by saying it forms part of an appeal to her audience to donate to Aids charities.

'Being raised on a cross with a crown of thorns like a modern Christ is absurd,' continued Father Leone. 'Doing it in the cradle of Christianity comes close to blasphemy.'

Mario Scialoja, head of Italy's Muslim League, told Reuters Madonna would 'do better to go home', a sentiment echoed by a spokesman for Rome's Jewish"
